Amoxicillin

Notes:
Amoxicillin is a penicillin antibiotic, commonly prescribed for children because it is well absorbed.
Brand names:
Amoxil, Moxatag, Trimox, Wymox
Commonly used for:

Ear infections, salmonella infection, E. coli infection, pneumonia, bladder infections, gonorrhea

Contraindications and precautions:

1. Do not use if allergic to other penicillin antibiotics

2. Amoxicillin can make birth control drungs less effective
3. Patients may develop a drug rash if they have lymphatic leukemia
4. Should also be used with caution in patients with viral infections such as
a viral respiratory infection, CMV (Cytomegalovirus is a type of herpes), and when patients have mononucleosis (may deveop a rash).
